What is the Solar Ambassador Program?

When you become a Solar Ambassador, you refer SolarCity to other people. Every time someone you refer signs up for SolarCity, you get $250 and that person gets one free month.

“Referring” someone is as easy as convincing them to sign up for a free SolarCity consultation. You’ll get paid when those people sign up to receive solar panels. You don’t get paid for the free consultations.

Anyone can join the Solar Ambassador program and begin earning money. It’s surprisingly easy to join – which is one of the reasons why SolarCity’s growth has been so strong over the past few years.

There’s also a multilevel marketing-style side to this plan: when someone you referred then turns around and refers someone else, you earn $100 for each one of those customers. When that ambassador refers yet another person, you earn $50 from that level.

By building your network wide and starting early, you can earn a substantial income through SolarCity – or at least that’s the idea.

The program also advertises itself as an eco-friendly partnership: you’re helping people protect the environment while teaching them about the benefits of solar energy.

Solar Ambassadors also love to tell you that we’re just at the “start of the peak” of solar energy adoption. As one salesperson told us, “How would you like to tell your family that you saw the opportunity to capitalize on solar’s exponential growth right before the peak occurred?”

What is SolarCity?

SolarCity started as a small startup in Silicon Valley in 2006 but has grown into one of America’s largest solar energy providers. In fact, one recent report called SolarCity the largest solar panel installer in the United States. The company’s “About” page claims that one out of every four solar panels installed in the United States is installed by SolarCity.

Today, the company is publically traded (SCTY on NASDAQ). Its headquarters are in San Mateo, California and it’s led by CEO and founder Lyndon Rive.

SolarCity may be the largest solar panel installation company in the United States, but it has not yet expanded across the entire country.

Today, the company is available in 19 states nationwide, including all of the following: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington DC, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, and Washington.

Once a referral has gone through the process of ordering solar panels through SolarCity, you’ll be rewarded in the form of a check mailed directly to you.
