Work4 Labs Review
Work4 is basically a sourcing tool that helps recruiters locate and communicate with potential employees for positions through the use of social media, primarily Facebook.
The Company
Work4 has a special partnership with Facebook. In fact they were the first technology to utilize Facebook’s Graph Search. This is Facebook’s number one language search tool, used primarily for recruitment purposes.
They have over 500 satisfied customers in over 33 countries around the world. They use specific algorithms to find the most like candidates for a company’s specific requirements.
To date, they have over 300,000 open job listings on Facebook alone.
Since starting up in April 2011, Work4 Labs has gone from having 10 employees with 6,000 customers to having 70 employees with 17,000 customers.
The Products
The product enables businesses to find potential candidates through focusing on doing their marketing where people are already spending most of their time: on their phones and on social media.
Because the Work4 is Web-based, they are available globally, making it a great tool for companies in all types of industries.
The company has made its “Work For Us” recruitment tool free for small businesses. This includes an app that is able to scan all of the profiles of a businesses Facebook friends and then suggests who should be referred for which job opening.
Work4’s app for Facebook will first ask for permission to use data, then it will scan a viewer’s profile. They look at your work history, education, location etc.
Then it just sorts out the open jobs opportunities at a company and highlights the ones that are best suited for what the viewer is qualified for.
The clients can notify their employees and tell them which of their friends are good candidates for open jobs and suggest they refer them.
When you compare this to looking through a long list of possible positions, feeling out numerous resumes and wondering if they even get seen, or going crazy trying to come up with referrals, it’s pretty easy to see why Work4 is on to something good.
The Verdict
I don’t think that the Work4 Labs apps will work very well when it comes to finding potential employees in highly specialized fields.
Companies will still have to see a resume or at least a LinkedIn profile in order to determine if someone is truly qualified for a position.
However, a lot of business spend time looking for and hiring for positions that are less specialized.
Sometimes the limited education and work history information shown in a Facebook profile is sufficient enough to show that a business should at least reach out, highlight a specific job on the careers app, or request that an employee who is already connected to them to speak to the individual.
With that being said however, There are a lot of people who might not bother to actually go to a company’s website, but they might check out their Facebook Page, or know someone who is already working there.
The technology used by Work4 Labs is awesome for getting these people to get into the whole process of applying for the position.
I personally think that the Work4 app is a great idea for employers and employees alike. it saves an incredible amount of time and effort for both parties and helps to narrow down the search field considerably.
Almost everyone uses some form of social media these days with Facebook being number one. The fact that Work4 Labs has such a unique relationship with them, shows how effective their program really is.
I personally have looked through hundreds of Help Wanted sections of the newspaper. I have used Monster.com. I have gone to the career sections of certain companies. It can be extremely frustrating.
When you can allow your profile to be seen and connected to potential employers just for using Facebook and being a friend to other people, it’s obvious how this companies ideas have become a game changer when it comes to employment.
