Facebook Pages Manager Review

Of course everyone uses Facebook. From loved ones to colossal companies – nearly anyone and everyone has a Facebook page. Throughout the years, Facebook’s mobility has greatly increased. Social media interaction and engagement isn’t supposed to keep one restrained to his or her desk burning their eyes by staring at a computer screen.

The newest product of the Facebook mobility dojo comes in the form of the Facebook Pages Manager application. For individuals and agencies who manage marketing, this is a massive coup, but it still has its flaws.

What exactly is this Facebook Pages Manager you speak of?

I’m glad you asked! Facebook Pages Manager is an application (or “app”) for the iPhone or iPad that enables the page administrator to control up to 50 Facebook pages in one setting. Please proceed to pick your jaw up from off of the floor and at the same time make sure you look over our Facebook pay per click guide.

This app allows the user to:

§ Submit written updates, photos, videos.

§ Get activity alerts on the site and reply to those engagements.

§ Read and reply to messages on Facebook.

Another Advantage:

It gives the user the ability to view some of the data and trends found in the “Insights” tab available on the desktop Facebook platform.

So, this handy app allows for posting on-the-go and the analytics give you an instantaneous view of how well specific messages and other content relate to the audience. I can see you getting this app already, but pump the brakes!

Pros

1. Saves a lot of time

It’s a free application; try to keep that in mind. For something that you don’t have to pay for, it’s a massive improvement from the old system of going through the main Facebook application, which took plenty of your precious time just to find the flippin’ page! With the Facebook Pages Manager, it’s easy – all the pages can be found at the top of the left navigation bar.

It is so convenient to have every page all in one page, especially for people like me who are frequently hopping back and forth between pages. Again, we revisit the magic number of 50 allowed pages, which is incredibly generous since you aren’t paying a single cent for the app.

Did I forget to mention that the Facebook Pages Manager app connects with the Facebook application that is already there and with the pages that I manage? It’s an incredible time saver!

2. Keeps things organized

Raise your hand if you remember a time where you were about to post a really casual and even vulgar personal message on your business account. I can’t see it but I’d assume that everybody reading this has their hands up. Fear not, with the Facebook Pages Manager app, keeping my personal account separate from my business pages is a breeze!

3. Recognizable navigation/features

The user-friendly interface was incredibly simple to get used to because its navigation system was similar to that of the Facebook application.

The “Schedule a Post” feature gives me a big advantage for my job role. I frequently write weekly and monthly posts at one time and I very much enjoy being able to schedule them. The fact that I am able to schedule the aforementioned posts all on-the-go is a very nice addition to the Facebook Pages Manager application as a whole.

4. It’s a Swiss Army Knife

The ability to send messages in the same app gets rid of the complications presented by the separate Facebook Messenger app. The ability to reply for our clients straight to their consumers at any time and from anywhere is key in building those strong business relationships.

The push alerts also make it easy to control many pages from the palm of my hand. Not a single message or comment is missed thanks to the very helpful alerts.

5. Analytics!

Remember the “Insights” tab I was talking about earlier? It includes things such as new page Likes, the total reach of your page, and the people actively engaged with your page. It’s incredibly beneficial because it also gives us a weekly perspective of how well we are managing our page.

Also, it allows us to view the results of any Facebook paid advertising according to new likes It also provides a look into the results of any paid Facebook advertising in line with new likes and people that have been reached. It shows our clients where their hard-earned money is going and why Facebook advertising is or isn’t worthwhile, depending on the results, of course..

Cons

1. Problems tagging

I have encountered some problems pertaining to tagging on the Facebook Pages Manager. I am oft-able to tag other businesses that like the page but I am not as successful at tagging individual people that like our pages.

Don’t let this deter you from getting the app, as I have encountered this same problem on the Facebook desktop platform so it most likely isn’t an app-specific issue. It annoys the living heck out of me, though, and Facebook should really fix this bug on all platforms.

2. Lack of customization

I’d really like it if I was given the choice of which mobile alerts I wanted to receive. Customer comments are far more important for a mobile app compared to alerts about general page or post likes. Maybe it’s something that should be considered in the next version release of the app.

It could definitely prove to be counterproductive if you’re managing a large number of pages and you get overwhelmed by notifications. The only form of relief provided by the app is being able to turn push notifications off for 8 hours. This is certainly something that needs to be expanded upon in future releases…

3. Too sales-driven

The Facebook Pages Manager also appears to be better suited for those pages that are promoted through paid advertising. Although in general, Facebook keeps moving farther and farther away from free opportunities to expand a business’s nuclear reach and more towards paying for everything such as viewers, clicks, and shares.

Another thing that would be nice is if the app expanded the “Insights” tab to have a bigger snapshot of the page’s performance over time instead of just a week-to-week configuration.

Despite all of that, rest assured that the pros far outweigh the cons when it comes to the Facebook Pages Manager. Here are some things to note if you still are considering this service:

Who exactly is this app for?

It is ideal for someone who manages the social media for a small to medium sized marketing firm or for a marketing manager at a company based on a specific product or service, thanks in large part to the mobile capabilities.

It’s a tremendous improvement from its predecessor, which forced you to use the main Facebook platform and finding the page that you desired to manage.

How should I use it?

Consider it as one cog in your social media management machine. It plays a huge role in getting the machine going, but it is not the only cog in that machine. Do not depend on the Facebook Pages Manager app for all of your needs pertaining to Facebook management. Keep in mind that your clients are probably on other platforms other than Facebook, such as Twitter.

It’s still worth an install because you aren’t paying anything for it and it allows you to be flexible if you aren’t working 8am-5pm every day of the week.

Conclusion:

The Facebook Pages Manager app is a Swiss Army Knife for your page management needs, all in one place under one account.

It allows you to submit updates, reply to user comments or messages and assess your page’s weekly performances. You are also provided with an assessment of how your paid advertisements are doing and whether you should keep ‘em or drop ‘em. Page management at any time is made incredibly simple thanks to push notifications.

There are some issues with tagging (that Facebook has on its main platform, as well) and it is lacking as it pertains to customizability, but you’re getting what you (didn’t) pay for. It does a really nice job, considering it’s a free mobile app and those aforementioned issues will most likely be corrected in future releases of the app.
